Stick a fork in us, we’re done. Last day (Wednesday). This is the fastest things have gone downhill in a loooong time. Our irrigation system is small but mighty…alas, it can’t keep up with so many days with no rain. And the heat, good grief, the heat. Plus huge flocks of Cedar Waxwings. We were pleased to hold the “fight the pipeline” picks, so will indeed make an additional contribution to Preserve Newport Historic Properties on behalf of our dang birds/deer/bears/chipmunks etc. that have enjoyed many, many pounds of berries.
We pride ourselves on our quality – so while there are still a few awesome berries out there, it will take an inordinate amount of time to find and pick them. People have different thresholds of what is “acceptable.” Thank you SO MUCH to all our wonderful pickers Please appreciate and support ALL of the you-pick farmers out there – it is so difficult to divine when exactly to call it quits.
Cheers,
Holly and Joel
